AUSTIN, Texas, August 1, 2017 DAC INTERNATIONAL INC. (DAC), a subsidiary of Aero Precision Holdings LP, announced that its latest A-D (Analog-Digital) converter model, the GDC62, has been approved as part of an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to interface a Garmin GTN series navigator to Sperry AA-300 or Collins ALT-55 radio altimeters.

The GDC62 accepts an analog input from approved radio altimeter models and converts the signal to the ARINC 429 format, compatible with currently available Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II) digital processors and GPS Receivers. The GDC62 eliminates the need to replace analog radio altimeters when digital-only receivers are installed.

DAC International’s GDC62 was part of a STC issued by the FAA and developed by Columbia Avionics and Aircraft Services, Inc. to allow the Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS) A function in the GTN navigator to be enabled. It includes the Cessna models 500, 550, S550, 560, and 560XL.

“By offering this cost-effective solution to the retrofit market, we are able to improve the affordability of glass cockpit upgrades,” said Cisco Hernandez, President of DAC International.
